The Soya plant (Glycine max) was cultivated in China before 3000 B.C., and was classified as one of the five sacred crops.

Europeans had been aware of soybeans as early as 1712 through the writing of a German botanist. Some Soybean seed may have been sent from China by missionaries in 1740 and planted in France.

Soy food everyday is protective against many types of cancer. Polyunsaturated fatty acids in soy foods regulate blood pressure. Soy food reduces risk of heart diseases by reducing bad cholesterol. Soluble fiber in soy foods controls blood sugar. Soy food delays aging process.

Protein content in soy is three times more than any variety of dhal. Protein in just 250 grams of soy bean is equivalent to protein in 3 to 5 liters of milk or 1 kg of mutton or 24 no’s of eggs.
